As anyone from this area knows, it can be frustrating to wait in long lines during the summer to cross Galveston Bay either going to or coming from Galveston. The Texas Department of Transportation is hoping to speed up the process and has introduced a new ferry vessel to the fleet. She's the Esperenza 'Hope' Andrade, named in honor of the former Texas Secretary of State, and she is the seventh vessel in the current third generation of ferries to ply the Bolivar Roads. HISTORY First Generation   ~ Ferry service between Galveston and the Bolivar Peninsula began in 1929 and was a private business consisting of two vessels.
